| INTRODUCTION: |
The Weary Warriors Gaming Guild has the single purpose to forge and
strengthen camaraderie between a group of mature game hobbyists. The
company of good people becomes the best part of all of the games we
play. While we strive to excel in the games we play with or against each
other, excellence of character will always be more important than gaming
skill.
We are not limited as a group to a single game or a single genre.
Members might play a single game exclusively or dabble in many. In any
case each member is a valued part of our community.
As part of our community, we maintain a website and forums and use
Ventrilo voice over IP communication. The cost of these assets are
shared equally between all members. The cost is reasonable, and the
value and enjoyment we derive from these tools far exceeds the price.
The cost is divided equally between all
members. Sharing in this small cost is mandatory for all members. We do
not at this time operate a private server for games. We may do so again
in the future at the discretion of the membership. If so, the additional
cost for that server will be shared between those members who use the
server. If your game servers are operated by the game publisher (Sony,
Blizzard, Turbine, etc.) and you pay a monthly subscription to them you
will have no obligation to share in the cost of the WW game server
unless you use it.
AN IMPORTANT NOTE ON MONIES PAID: We maintain a Paypal vendor
account for this purpose, to allow for consistent valid record keeping
and ease of payment. Guild monies and how they are spent are fully
disclosed to all members. These monies are solely for the purpose of
maintaining our website and voice comm. There is no profit being made by
the guild. Monies paid are considered a donation. You are free to pay a
few months in advance if you like, however if you choose to depart from
the guild no refund of these advance donations will be given.
Please read the following document carefully, so that you fully
understand the standards by which we game. Not everyone agrees with, or
is able to comply with our standards, and it is important for all
applicants to determine if they can truly maintain compliance with our
code. The following code and leadership structure was created to protect
our members and their families (who watch, listen, and sometimes
participate with us) from inappropriate and offensive gaming
environments. We thank all our members for their cooperation in this
endeavor.
By applying for membership, you certify that you have read and agree to
abide by the following:
The Weary Warriors Gaming Guild operates by the consensus of all regular
members. In the event that a guild decision needs to be made and no
consensus can be reached through discussion, a vote will be taken. The
result of the vote is final. No matter which side of the issue we stood
on originally, we agree to square our shoulders and move forward with
good will when the issue is settled.
There are three membership roles. They are Recruit, Recruiter, and
Regular Member.
A Recruit is a potential member under consideration. They undertake
recruit status by visiting this web site and submitting an application.
The recruit period will last at minimum 30 days. Ventrilo use is
mandatory at this time, it is our best means to get to know you. You
will find it to be a great tool that adds to the richness of your game
experience. The 30 day recruit period may be extended in the event that
playtimes have not coincided enough for the regular members to get to
know the recruit well. Recruits have access to all of the Members Areas
of the forums with the sole exception of the recruiting discussion
forum. This is to allow members to speak freely in regard to a recruit.
Recruits are encouraged to participate in all guild policy discussions
and share their opinions prior to any vote, but they will not themselves
receive a vote.
At the end of their probationary period, a vote will take place among
the members as to whether the recruit should become a regular member.
The single most important criteria in this discussion is the conduct and
degree of camaraderie developed with the Recruit during their
probationary period. Any member voting no is asked to detail their
reasons for doing so. Discussion may ensue. The strenuous objection of
three or more members will warrant denial of Regular Member status. In
the event that a recruit is denied Regular Membership, they are entitled
to a written explanation for the decision. The Recruiter will send this
explanation via email to the address the Recruit provided at the time of
their application.
A Recruiter is a regular member who has volunteered to assist recruits
in the initiation process. They are the primary communicator between the
recruit and the guild at large. There will be at minimum one recruiter
for each game in which the guild has a strong presence, so that recruits
may deal with someone who has an understanding of the game they are
currently playing. In all other respects they are Regular Members.
A Regular Member is any member who has passed the recruit stage. They
have full access to all guild forums and their ideas and concerns are
weighted equally in any discussion, regardless of their length of
membership. Each member is entitled to one vote on any guild decision
that requires a vote. Spouses, fiancés or mature older children of
Regular Members are welcome to become members themselves without a
probationary period. We do ask for an application from them as a means
of introduction, and as always Ventrilo use is required. Members who do
allow their older children to play in and with the guild are responsible
for watching over the conduct of their child.
Conduct and Consideration: The Weary Warriors wills strive for a mature
and sportsmanlike reputation in every game we play. Games and
communities vary. What is fair play in a Player vs. Player game may be
considered hostile in other venues. Operate by the golden rule. Would
you enjoy playing with a person who was acting as you are? No grief play
will be tolerated, and is cause for dismissal from membership.
Language: While style and vocabulary may vary widely among members, we
strive for an environment that those of us who have families can feel
comfortable having their children around, sometimes even playing
alongside. To that end, profanity and overly 'blue' talk is forbidden on
the forums or over Ventrilo. We understand that this type of speech may
be part of your regular vocabulary, but it does take an extra effort to
type it into a forum or to press your Ventrilo talk key. We tend to be
good natured jokesters, but we do want a relaxing family friendly
environment.
In Game Loot Rules: In some games, in game items can be highly prized.
As games differ it is not feasible to make an overall guild loot policy.
Instead the membership in each game should establish guidelines for
their particular game if necessary. These loot rules should be posted
publicly in your game's section of the forum to prevent
misunderstandings.
From Each According to Their Talents, To Each According to Their Needs:
This statement sums up the remainder of our operating structure. There
are those who enjoy, and have talent, in different areas. Members are
encouraged to become involved in their areas of skill to build and
improve the community. The area of website construction and maintenance
deserves a special note. Members involved in this area may make cosmetic
decisions without consulting the guild at large. If you dislike any
given alteration, you are free to suggest a change. Let them know
politely and be sure to thank them for their ongoing work on our home on
the web. If you are a new member interested in this aspect, find out who
is currently working on it, and ask how you can help. |
