Version 8.3 Release Notes

Version 8.3 will be released on Monday 5/23 at 8:00am. We expect 1.5 hours of downtime. This release contains enhancements to contribution tracking, our new ‘Crowd Pay’ payment system, enhancements to usability in the Admin area, and assorted bug fixes and enhancements.
PayPal Donation & Contribution Tracking
The 8.3 release contains enhancements to contribution tracking of all types. We have upgraded the PayPal donation widget to automatically track donations to the configured PayPal account and we have added the new Crowd Pay system which also automatically tracks donations.
Crowd Pay
The new Crowd Pay system allows you to configure your site to take donations in Points. These points are then used to pay for service. Using this method site members can contribute as little as $5.00. The Crowd Pay system will then track those points, list the contributors and the points will be used to keep your service active. Crowd Pay does not require a credit card since it does require setting up a subscription.
We have given 60 points to all ad-supported sites so that they can use their sites today without ads. You will also get a chance to use the new Crowd Pay widget.
Which Should I Use? PayPal Subscriptions vs. Crowd Pay
Don’t run out and change your payment type just yet. Crowd Pay is primarily intended for those without credit cards who haven’t been able to setup PayPal subscriptions.
PayPal subscriptions are still the least expensive way to set up service because they include multi-month discounts. Crowd Pay allows for smaller individual transactions and allows you to spread the cost amongst your members.
If you currently have a PayPal subscription then I would stick with it because you are enjoying the lowest price and the upgraded PayPal donation widget can be used to get site members to help you out with payments and it will track those donations.
If you do not have a credit card (as many of our foreign customers do not), then Crowd Pay is the way to go since it will accept e-Check, PayPal Balance, Credit Card and any other form of payment that can be processed through PayPal.
Admin Drag & Drop
Ranks, Forums, Menu Items and Application questions have all been enhanced with Drag & Drop reordering. Gone are the ‘up’ and ‘down’ links that required 5 clicks to move a link or a rank up 5 spaces. Now, you click the drag handle and drag the item to where you want and let go. This sounds like a small enhancement but it is a huge productivity gain in many cases.
New Templates
We have added a Murloc themed tamplate. This template highlights Murlocs in their natural habitat. This template has a fun Easter Egg for those lucky enough to find it.
Other Enhancements
■EQ2 Imports will now pull in class and level
■Admin session timeouts will now be directed to the guild specific login page not the GuildLaunch.com login page.
■Instance icons have been added to the calendar for the newer instances.
■Class icons have been added for Shaiya
Other Bug Fixes
■Widget dragging in some of the older templates has been improved
■The User Recognition widget now shows the time a user was added based on the configured server timezone for the site.
■All Rift characters will now have their name’s first letter capitalized. This will reduce/remove import doubling issues.
