Battlefield 3 Looks like the PC is the winner this time.

Battlefield 3 to run at 30 FPS on consoles

The highly anticipated Battlefield 3 (BF3) will hit shelves on October 25, 2011. Without a doubt, the game is one of the most anticipated first-person shooters to be released in recent years. Information surrounding the game is seemingly released on a daily basis. Recently, game developer DICE revealed that BF3 would run at 30 frames per second on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, which is half the 60 frames per second that PCs will bust out.

On release day, the game will be available on the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PCs. A port for the Wii U may exist in the near future. Regardless of the gaming system, this game promises to sell like crazy and be wildly popular. Battlefield is regularly compared to the Call of Duty series, and many gamers are willing to fight to the death over which is better.

DICE's revelation has already sparked some debate among gamers. Specifically, PC and console gamers are fighting over which platform is better to play on. The PC version of Battlefield 3 will run at 60 FPS, but the consoles will only meet half that rate. Frame rate is always debated among gamers and analysts. Still, most PC users are quick to point out that PCs push out higher frame rates and better graphics.

In comparison to Battlefield 3 on consoles, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will run at 60 FPS on the 360 and PS3. The debate between which game is better is a never-ending battle. Either way, frame rate doesn't necessarily give one game an edge over another. Various factors contribute to graphics and gameplay when it comes to a title's FPS.

The announcement by DICE won't really change much about Battlefield 3's popularity or how successful the game is bound to be. On the other hand, it does bring up some constant debates about frame rates and consoles versus computers. None of these debates will be remedied anytime soon, but gamers now know how the game is going to run at the very least.
